Classes need playground equipment!

Coach Swain needs help putting together a classroom set for each classroom grades K-5 for this year. Each class will get a basketball and playground ball assigned solely to their class.

How can you help?
You can choose to sponsor a class or simply donate to the cause. The cost of this will only be $15.00 per class. The goal is to be able to add a new piece of equipment to each year.

If you would like to donate please send checks made out to Claxton (with "playground equipment" in the memo) to your child’s teacher so they can properly receipt it.

Free After School Program for Pisgah View Students

Children First/Communities in Schools welcomes any child living in Pisgah View apartments to attend a free after school program.  The program is available to K-5 students who are at least 6 years old.  Your child will be dropped off from the school bus at our Learning Center.  Children receive a healthy snack, homework assistance, and participate in enrichment activities (drumming, HipHop dance, arts and crafts, science experiments, fun sports and games).  The program operates from 2:24 - 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday with an occasional Fun Friday where we go on field trips or have a party!

If your child qualifies and you're interested, please call Jette Redmond, Parent Coordinator, at 768-3015, or Barbara Norton, Project MARCH Coordinator, at 768-2073.  Applications are available at the Project MARCH Learning Center at Pisgah View apartments, 16-C Stewart Street, from 9:00am - 12:00pm, or at the Family Resource Center behind Emma Elementary School off N. WEEDS!

Hey All You Claxton Parents –

It is a little over a week until school starts. I have been working on the landscape the past two weeks, but just can’t get to it all. Can you please donate 30 minutes of your time this week to go and pull weeds at the school? Bring a friend or a child to make the work go faster.

You can weed the front corner beds on Merriman/Hillside and Merriman/Annandale, the beds in the center front steps, the butterfly garden, or anywhere else you see that needs attention. Also, some deadheading needs to be done on the lavender and other plants.

Thank you so much for your help. I look forward to seeing you next week!
