Congratulations!

Thanks to all the runners who designated Claxton as their school of choice when registering for the Falafel 5K!  We edged out the competition by a "fraction of a hair" to win $500 as the school with the biggest turn out.  Way to go Claxton runners!

Wish you could have been part of the fun?   Not to worry -- you have another chance.  We're eligible for the same challenge (and another $500 prize) in the Ramble Run at Biltmore Park on May 11th.  Interested?  Contact Amanda Van Cleve.

Attention Runners

We're in a photo finish for first place for the Falafel 5K Zip's Challenge!  The team with the most runners gets $500 for their PTO ($250 for second place), so come on!  You'll have a great time, get some great exercise and help the PTO win some easy money!

Designate Claxton as your school of choice when you register.  Our PTO will receive $5 for every 5K registration and $2 for every Fun Run registration (that's in addition to prize money if we get the most participants!).   Contact Amanda VanCleve, our Team Captain.

Can't make that date?  The same challenge is available for the Ramble Run in Biltmore Park o May 11th.  Click here for more info!

Reminder: 3rd and 4th graders interested in FLL -- applications are due on Friday, April 12th.

Interested in the FIRST LEGO Robotic League this fall?

Applications are due on Friday, April 12th.

For the 2013 fall season, teams will conduct scientific research based on the theme "Nature’s Fury," and will propose an innovative solution to a real-world issue related to their research. Teams will also design, build and program a robot to compete in a game based on the same theme. Through all of this, teams must embrace the core values of teamwork, community service, "coopertition" and fun. Teams will compete in a regional tournament in November.

There are a limited number of spaces per team, and students must apply to participate! Registration fee for the 2013 – 2014 season is $60 and will be due when team selections are announced (waived for students with financial need.)   Application information is available here.

Practices are held on Mondays and Fridays after school throughout the fall, with tournament season starting in November.  It’s a lot of work and a LOT of fun!

If you need an application or more information, contact Jenny Manner or Sarah Thornburg.
