National Girls and Women in Sports Day will be held at UNC Asheville on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. This is a community event designed to expose women and girls to a variety of activities that will inspire them to lead active, healthy lives.
This year’s event is open to women and girls (ages 6 and up) as a chance to try a new sport or fitness class, or build skills in a sport of interest. Registration is $15 a person. This includes four clinics, t-shirt and goody bag, healthy lunch, door prizes, and a ticket to the Bulldogs basketball game at UNC Asheville that day. Register early to get the clinics of your choice!
Event highlights include:
- Sports clinics run by qualified, professional college coaches and athletes
- Drawings for door prizes
- Chance to meet local female athletes and get autographs
This event is sponsored by Asheville Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department in collaboration with UNCA, Outdoor Family Fun, Buncombe County Parks and Recreation, Girls on the Run, Girl Scouts P2P, YMCA, Asheville Field Hockey Team, Asheville Rugby, Asheville Gymnastics, Disc Golf Association, and the YWCA.
Preregistration is highly recommended as we do run out of space and t-shirts. For more information or to register, contact Allison at 350-2058, adains@ashevillenc.gov or Jessica Johnston at 251-4042 or jjohnston@ashevillenc.gov.
