A+ Program Information Updates

Ever wonder what it means to your child that Claxton is an A+ school?  How is what our students experience and what our teachers do different than what happens at other schools?

With report cards that are coming home this week, parents should also expect to receive the State of the Arts newsletter for January.  The A+ committee has been very busy this year.  The newsletter will bring you up to speed!

We also have a new A+ flyer that gives a great overview of the program as it's implemented at our school.

And for overall program information, you can check out the A+ program website.

Want to get involved?  Contact Mr. Butler or Mr. Cassara.

Online Donations for 4th & 5th Grade Field Trips

Dear Friends and Families of Claxton Elementary students:

Greetings!

As many of you know, we are raising funds for the 4th and 5th grade overnight fieldtrips in the spring.  We have coordinated a website to ask grandparents, relatives, neighbors and friends of these students to consider making an on line donation of any $5 increment.

Please click on this link to get started:

http://osp.osmsinc.com/AshevilleNC/Cart.aspx

If this is your first time on the website for Claxton Elementary there are a few extra steps, but I hope to make it as easy as possible for you to donate on line.

No matter who you are, you have to register as a new user (even if this is the one and only time you plan to do this.)  Sorry!

  1. Please click on new user and put your first and last name (no spaces) as the user name:
    ie:    Johndoe
  2. Your email adress
  3. First and last name separately
  4. A password
  5. A hint to that password
  6. The answer to that password

After you enter that, it will ask you for payment information.  Then there is a request for the name of the student you are donating in the name of.  If you are donating on my behalf as friend or relative, it is  Lily Sullivan, it also asks for an identifying phone number.  If you know their home phone that works best, if not just put (828)-350-6500, which is Claxton Elementarys phone number.

If you have any questions or need technical assistance, please contact Rosanna Sullivan or by phone at 828-273-5356.

Thank you,
Rosana Sullivan

Krispy Kreme Certificate Sales to Fund 4th and 5th Grade Field Trips

January 7 - 30,
Krispy Kreme certificates for sale!

"What's a 'certificate'?" you ask.  "I've never heard of that kind doughnut!"

The certificate are a hot-and-fresh-when-you-want-them alternative to picking up a box of doughnuts at school.  Instead, you buy the certificate and you can swing in to pick them up next time your sweet tooth attacks.  Buy a handful -- take them to the office, take them to Grandma, take them to church on Sunday morning, take them along to the park or a party, use them to bribe your kids to clean their rooms!  Each certificate is $7.00, and can be redeemed for a dozen glazed doughnuts at any Krispy Creme location.

Proceeds of the doughnuts sales support the 5th and 5th grade field trips this spring.  Order forms came home with students last week.  Simply fill out the order form, collect the payment and the certificates will be sent home on Monday February 4th.

The top seller in K-1st, 2nd-3rd & 4th-5th will each receive a dozen free dough nuts!

Magnet School Forum - January 8th

Greetings ACS Elementary/Preschool Families and Staff,

Next Tuesday (Jan 8th) we will be hosting our annual Magnet School Forum here in our boardroom at Central Services. The event is designed for the families of the new kindergarten class that will begin school on or about August 21, 2013 and for newcomers to our community with elementary-age children.

Help us spread the word! This is an important event, as is the Open House process at our five elementary schools on January 28-30, so if you have friends and/or family who would benefit by learning more about our terrific magnet school offerings, please share the information below.

Thanks, and Happy New Year.

Charlie Glazener
