Light the Night on February 1st with Silent Auction for Claxton Elementary

On Friday, February 1, the Homewood at 19 Zillicoa Street in Montford will host a silent auction benefitting local Claxton Elementary, an Arts and Humanities magnet school serving a diverse community of learners in downtown Asheville.  Claxton’s mission is to provide for all students successful learning experiences which prepare them to be productive, responsible citizens and lifelong learners.

The event will be an opportunity for the larger community to support this Title 1 downtown city school. The arts serve as a critical component to a complete education and are proven to increase student academic achievement.  Community support will fund programs that may help bridge the gap for many learners. Proceeds from this event will go toward programs such as Claxton’s Storytelling Festival, LEAF in Schools and Streets, field trip scholarships, books and supplies in the classroom, and more.

The benefit silent auction will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature Music by DJ Deft Touch, food and beverages by Asheville Pizza, Avenue M, Clingman CafĂ©, Empire Distributing, Fresh Market, Greenlife, Luella’s, Moe’s BBQ, Oskar Blues Brewery and more.  Ticket purchases cost $25 in advance through the Claxton Blog at Http://www.clxpto.blogspot.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the door at 19 Zillicoa Street in Montford.

The silent auction will be held throughout the evening featuring items including 4- One Day Hopper Passes At Disney World, a one night stay at the Beaufort House Inn, a Fender Electric Guitar from Musicians Workshop, a one week summer ballet workshop at the Ballet Conservatory, teeth whitening from a Martin Family Dentistry, a 3-Month Family Membership at the Asheville Racquet Club, Bonnaroo Music Festival and Hangout Music Festival Passes, and Brewgrass and Beer City Festival tickets!
